Her nephew, Bryan Seaver, revealed the news in an Instagram video released on Tuesday.

“My name is Bryan Seaver, son of Cassie Parton, and I’m representing the Parton and Owens family today, announcing the passing of my aunt, Dolly Rebecca Parton Dean, Sister, Sis and Granny to one generation and Gigi to the next,” he says in the video. “This video announcement is something Dolly asked of me years ago, before I fully absorbed it as a future reality. As her head of security for more than two decades, a role my father Larry held before me, I have imagined the heaviness of this moment but haven’t truly felt it until now.”

Seaver said that it was an honor to deliver the message to those who loved Dolly since she began her career in the 1960’s.

Parton, just four days ago, provided an update on her health, acknowledging her recent decline after the March 2025 death of her husband, Carl Dean.

Dean died in March 2025 at age 82 after a long illness. While the exact cause of his death was not detailed, Parton previously told media outlets that her husband had been “ill for quite a while” before his passing.

The Tennessee native had said at the time she needed to go through “a few procedures” amid ongoing “health challenges”.
