The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has expanded its ongoing Johnson Health Tech treadmill recall to include additional Matrix Retail and Vision models, after regulators determined they could pose a fire hazard. The original recall affected roughly 47,000 treadmills, and owners are urged to stop using all affected units immediately.
The recall covers treadmills sold nationwide through major retailers, both in stores and online. Johnson Health Tech is offering repair, replacement, or full refunds for all affected models. Consumers can verify whether their treadmill is part of the recall by checking serial numbers on the CPSC website or contacting Johnson Health Tech customer service.
The CPSC emphasized that some units have experienced overheating or electrical malfunctions, increasing the risk of fire. Owners should not attempt repairs themselves and should follow manufacturer guidance carefully. The hazard is caused by a loose power cord that can disconnect from the socket during use.
Affected models include Matrix Retail T30, TF30, T50, TF50, and T75, as well as Vision T9800, TF20, T40, and T80. These treadmills, with 60-inch by 20-inch running platforms and 33-inch-wide consoles, were sold with straight power cords lacking a bracket. Units were manufactured between June 2007 and January 2024 and sold from April 2012 through May 2025 through retailers including JFW, G&G Fitness, Precision Fitness, Fitness Expo, and online via matrixhomefitness.com and visionfitness.com, with prices ranging from $2,100 to $8,100.
The CPSC reports 27 incidents of overheating at the power cord-socket connection, though no injuries have been documented. Consumers are advised to immediately check for a power cord bracket; if absent, ensure the cord is fully inserted before each use until repaired. Johnson Health Tech is providing free replacement power cords with an automatic locking-style plug.
