Colby Erskin, a former math teacher and head football coach, was arrested Feb. 5 by the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office on a Broward County warrant for allegedly sending sexual messages and a nude photo to a 15-year-old girl.

The teen’s father, Yaniv Rosenberg, told WESH-TV that the messages ranged from tutoring offers to sexually explicit content. “From ‘Do you need help in math?’ to ‘You look cute,’ to sexual comments, to ‘Do you want to hang out?’ to ‘Can I see you after the football game?’ to freakin’ naked pics of himself,” Rosenberg said.

Erskin had previously worked at South Plantation High School before moving to Mount Dora High School in Lake County, where he was recently hired as head football coach. Lake County Schools confirmed that Erskin, who had been on probationary status, was dismissed immediately following his arrest.

Broward County records show Erskin is charged with solicitation of a child and transmission of material harmful to minors. At a court hearing, a prosecutor requested a $50,000 bond, but the judge set it at $500,000 and ordered no contact with the alleged victim or any minors.

Rosenberg described the alleged conduct as grooming, emphasizing the danger posed by adults in positions of authority. “What do I say to my daughter? Stay away from [expletive] scumbags,” he said.

Erskin is expected to post bond and could be released from custody while the case proceeds. Authorities encourage anyone with additional information regarding the case to come forward.
