President Donald Trump shared a private letter on Truth Social in which evangelist Franklin Graham expressed confidence about the president’s eternal fate, writing that his soul is “secure” and that he is “heaven-bound” through faith in Jesus Christ.
Graham, the son of the late Billy Graham and a longtime evangelical supporter of Trump, sent the letter on Oct. 15 after Trump had jokingly questioned whether he would make it to heaven. In the message, Graham emphasized the Christian doctrine of salvation, stating that assurance comes through belief in Christ’s death and resurrection.
“The only One who can save us from Hell is Jesus Christ,” Graham wrote. “If you accept that by faith and invite Him to come into your heart, you ARE heaven-bound, I promise you.” He also cited Romans 10:9, which teaches that confessing Jesus as Lord and believing in His resurrection leads to salvation.
In addition to addressing spiritual matters, Graham praised what he described as Trump’s “incredible accomplishments,” including efforts tied to Middle East diplomacy and the release of Israeli hostages.
President Trump had previously taken a lighter tone when asked about his eternal fate, joking aboard Air Force One that he did not expect to reach heaven. More recently, he struck a more confident note during remarks at the National Prayer Breakfast, saying he believed he had done significant good despite not being “a perfect candidate.”
Graham has been a consistent supporter of Trump for years, expressing early backing and maintaining a close alignment with the president on faith and public policy issues.
