An Iranian ballistic missile struck a residential area in the northern Israeli town of Zarzir before dawn on Friday, injuring 58 people and causing widespread damage to homes. The attack occurred around 2:30 a.m. local time as part of Iran's third overnight barrage targeting Israel.

Magen David Adom emergency services reported that a 34-year-old woman suffered moderate shrapnel wounds to her back, while a 17-year-old girl sustained light injuries from glass shards. The remaining casualties experienced minor injuries from flying glass, shrapnel, or anxiety attacks. Thirty people, including 15 children and 15 adults, were admitted to Emek Medical Center near Afula, with two in moderate condition. Another 28, mostly children with light injuries or anxiety, were taken to Rambam Medical Center in Haifa.

The missile directly hit a complex of four private homes in Zarzir, a Bedouin community north of Nazareth. One house was completely destroyed, and approximately 300 nearby homes suffered damage to windows, doors, and roofs from the blast wave. A large crater formed at the site, cars were wrecked, a stable collapsed killing a colt, and a fire broke out in the yard. Firefighters conducted searches for trapped individuals and extinguished the blaze.

Zarzir Mayor Ataf Grifat described the destruction as severe, noting that one house was totally destroyed and hundreds more damaged. He credited safe rooms with saving lives, adding that those outside were injured.

The strike came amid an escalating conflict that began on February 28, when US and Israeli forces launched strikes on Iran, killing former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iran has since fired multiple missile barrages at Israel and regional neighbors, while blocking the Strait of Hormuz. Hezbollah has also launched rockets and drones from Lebanon, prompting Israeli ground advances and airstrikes there.

The Israeli Defense Forces are investigating why the missile impacted despite air defenses, with initial reports suggesting another in the barrage was intercepted. Over the past 24 hours, the IDF struck more than 200 Iranian targets, including an underground ballistic missile facility in Shiraz, air defenses and weapon sites in Tehran, and IRGC headquarters in Ahvaz.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that operations were dismantling Iran's nuclear infrastructure, missile arrays, and regime centers, shifting the regional power balance. US President Donald Trump commented on the Iranian leadership, vowing continued action. Iran's new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei promised retaliation and sustained use of the Strait of Hormuz blockade.

Since the war's onset, Magen David Adom has treated 854 people injured by missile fire, including 12 deaths. Sirens sounded across northern and southern Israel during the attacks, but no other impacts were reported from this barrage.
