Former Vice President Kamala Harris said she has not ruled out another run for the White House, signaling she is weighing a potential second presidential campaign following her 2024 loss to President Donald Trump.
Harris made the comments during a live video conversation with author Sharon McMahon, who asked directly whether she planned to seek the presidency again. “I haven’t decided,” Harris responded when pressed on the question. When McMahon followed up by asking if she was still considering it, Harris replied, “I might.”
The remarks mark one of Harris’ most direct acknowledgments that she could reenter national electoral politics. Since the 2024 election, she has largely maintained a low public profile. Earlier this year, she announced she would not run for governor of California, stating she had taken time to reflect on how best to continue advancing her political priorities.
Harris lost the 2024 presidential election to Trump by approximately two million votes, returning him to the Oval Office for a second term. In the months since, some former staff members have publicly criticized former President Joe Biden’s decision to remain in the race as long as he did, arguing it complicated the Democratic Party’s transition heading into the general election.
An Axios report in December indicated that some Democratic donors and party leaders expressed concern about the prospect of Harris mounting another campaign, citing the outcome of the previous race.
Harris recently published a book titled “107 Days,” detailing her abbreviated 2024 campaign against Trump. While she has not formally launched a bid, her latest comments suggest the possibility remains under consideration as Democrats assess their leadership direction ahead of the next presidential cycle.
