A federal jury in Manhattan convicted three brothers Monday on sex trafficking charges after a five-week trial that exposed a pattern of luring women with luxury trips before drugging and assaulting them.
Twins Oren and Alon Alexander, both 38, and their brother Tal, 39, were found guilty on all counts. Oren and Tal worked as high-profile real estate brokers at Douglas Elliman, known as the 'A Team' for closing multimillion-dollar deals with celebrity clients, before launching their own firm, Official. Alon managed the family's private security company.
The brothers faced charges including conspiracy to commit sex trafficking. Alon and Tal were also convicted of sex trafficking a minor, while Alon and Oren were found guilty of aggravated sexual abuse by force or intoxicant and sexual abuse of a physically incapacitated person. Oren faced an additional conviction for sexually exploiting a minor after prosecutors presented a video he recorded of himself assaulting a drugged 17-year-old in 2009.
Eleven women testified that the brothers met them at nightclubs, parties, and dating apps, then invited them on expense-paid getaways to the Hamptons, Aspen, Colorado, and a Caribbean cruise. Victims described being handed drinks that left them paralyzed or unconscious, followed by assaults. One woman recounted meeting the brothers at a 2012 party in actor Zac Efron's Manhattan apartment, then waking naked next to Alon, who laughed when she protested. Another, then 17, said Alon raped her in Aspen in 2017. Lindsey Acree testified that Tal and another man assaulted her in the Hamptons in 2011 after a single sip of wine rendered her immobile.
Prosecutors presented texts and emails where the brothers boasted about conquests and drug effects, a blog post titled 'It’s not rape if …,' and evidence of sharing assault photos and videos. More than 60 women have accused the brothers of rape.
Defense attorneys argued encounters were consensual, calling the brothers womanizers whose accusers had faulty memories or financial motives. Only two victims have active civil suits, both described as wealthy.
The jury deliberated over 20 hours across three days before announcing guilty verdicts 19 times. The brothers have been jailed since their 2024 arrests. About two dozen civil lawsuits have followed, including one last week by 'Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles' star Tracy Tutor alleging Oren drugged and assaulted her.
U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton praised the victims' courage and the jury's commitment, stating the case demonstrated sex trafficking's presence across society. 'The abuse inflicted upon the victims is disgusting, scarring, and should not be tolerated,' he said.
Defense lawyer Marc Agnifilo vowed to appeal: 'We believe in our clients' innocence, and we're not going to stop fighting.' Victim Lindsey Acree said, 'Money is their stick, so you take it away so they can’t hurt people anymore.'
The brothers face up to life in prison at sentencing on August 6 before Judge Valerie E. Caproni.
