Rick Hogaboam, recently sworn in as Nampa’s 31st mayor, died Wednesday after experiencing a medical emergency during a town hall hosted by the Treasure Valley Partnership at Eagle City Hall. Hogaboam, 47, had been speaking when Eagle Mayor Brad Pike administered CPR, and staff called 911. Despite rapid response by the Ada County Sheriff’s Office, Hogaboam did not survive.
Hogaboam was elected mayor in November and took office on Jan. 5. Nampa, located about 20 miles west of Boise, Idaho, has roughly 115,000 residents. In a statement on the city’s official Facebook page, officials asked the community to keep Hogaboam’s family and loved ones in their prayers and described him as both a friend and a dedicated public servant.
The Treasure Valley Partnership, a coalition of local mayors and county commissioners, expressed sorrow over the sudden loss. “Rick Hogaboam was an exemplary public servant, a dedicated family man, and a true friend,” the group said. Hogaboam had previously worked for the city of Nampa and Canyon County and had already earned respect among local leaders.
Officials and community members continue to mourn the unexpected passing of the mayor, emphasizing his commitment to public service and the positive impact he had on the region.
