A Cincinnati preschool teacher was terminated after posting a TikTok video that appeared to voice disappointment over President Donald Trump's survival of a shooting at the White House Correspondents' Dinner.

Corrine Baum worked at BrightPath Bridgetown Child Care Center, part of an early learning network formerly known as The Children's House. She instructed pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students there as recently as Sunday. In the video, posted after the Saturday incident, Baum said: "Man, there's been a few creators on here saying that like Friday or yesterday could have been the day and then I wake up to that news, but not that news." She added, "We're going to have to pay really close attention to what they're trying to actually distract us from." The clip carried the caption "Waking up to the news but not THAT news."

The post quickly went viral after being shared by the Libs of TikTok account on X, drawing widespread condemnation. Viewers interpreted her words as lamenting the failed attempt on Trump's life, prompting calls for her dismissal from parents and online commentators.

BrightPath responded swiftly. A spokesperson told Fox News Digital on Monday: "Our organization does not tolerate and explicitly condemns any calls for violence. The comments made online by this individual are deeply inconsistent with our values. The individual in question has been terminated."

A friend of Baum told GB News that she was "going through a difficult time" and "distraught," and declined to comment further. Fox News Digital also sought comment from Baum but received no response.

The video surfaced amid heightened attention to the shooting at the Washington Hilton on April 25, 2026. President Trump attended the dinner his first as sitting president alongside First Lady Melania Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and Cabinet members. At 8:34 p.m. EDT, suspect Cole Tomas Allen, 31, from Torrance, California, rushed a security checkpoint, firing shots from a shotgun and pistol while carrying knives.

Secret Service agents returned fire, striking Allen in the knee during a tackle. One agent was hit in his bullet-resistant vest but sustained no serious injury. Trump and others were evacuated safely, and the event was canceled. Allen, a tutor and engineer, faces charges including attempted assassination of the president, facing life in prison. Court documents revealed a manifesto targeting Trump administration officials, though Trump was not explicitly named.

Trump praised law enforcement on Truth Social: "Secret Service and Law Enforcement did a fantastic job. They acted quickly and bravely." Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche announced charges Monday, joined by FBI Director Kash Patel and U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro for D.C. Allen's next court date is May 11.

The incident marked the third reported attempt on Trump in two years. BrightPath emphasized its commitment to child safety and values misaligned with violence in its rebranding announcement years earlier. Ohio's Department of Education has a process for reporting educator misconduct, which some online users referenced.
