President Donald J. Trump has formally endorsed U.S. Rep. Tom Tiffany of Wisconsin’s 7th District for governor in the 2026 election, calling him a “highly respected America First congressman” and a “proven leader” who has always stood by his side. In a Truth Social post, Trump praised Tiffany’s background as a businessman, family farmer, former state legislator, and congressman, saying his experience and loyalty make him the right choice to lead Wisconsin after Trump’s decisive 2024 victory in the state.
The endorsement comes early in what is expected to be a competitive open race, as Democrat Gov. Tony Evers is term-limited. Tiffany announced his gubernatorial campaign in late 2025 on a platform focused on border security, tax cuts, defending Second Amendment rights, backing law enforcement, expanding American energy production, and pushing back against federal overreach. Those priorities closely align with Trump’s America First agenda and resonate strongly with Wisconsin conservatives, particularly in rural and working-class communities.
Trump highlighted Tiffany’s loyalty and past success, noting that he endorsed him early in previous congressional races and that Tiffany went on to win decisively. Trump said Tiffany “has always been at my side” and pointed to his real-world experience in business, agriculture, and state government as proof he is prepared to govern. Trump also referenced his own 2024 win in Wisconsin, reinforcing the state’s importance and his continued influence there.
Wisconsin remains one of the most important battleground states in the country. Republicans control the legislature, while Democrats have held the governor’s office since 2018. The 2026 election will shape the state’s direction on election integrity, energy policy, education, and abortion. With Trump’s endorsement, Tiffany enters the Republican primary as the clear frontrunner, backed by strong grassroots support, deep conservative credentials, and growing national attention.
