Rand Paul said he is weighing another run for the White House in 2028, adding that his decision will likely come after the midterm elections.
In an interview with Robert Costa of CBS News, Paul said the possibility of a campaign is “50-50,” joking that media speculation may be ahead of his own timeline.
Paul indicated he would seek to unify the party’s libertarian-leaning voters with more traditional business-oriented Republicans, suggesting there is still support within the GOP for that coalition.
His comments come as he has occasionally broken with fellow Republicans on key issues, including a recent clash with Markwayne Mullin. Paul was the only Republican to vote against Mullin’s nomination to lead the Department of Homeland Security.
Paul has also voiced criticism of recent foreign policy decisions, including U.S. involvement in strikes on Iran.
While no formal campaign has been announced, his remarks place him among the early names potentially considering a 2028 presidential run.
