Rep. Byron Donalds, R-Fla., defended President Donald Trump’s handling of the Iran conflict on Thursday, urging Republican colleagues to stay unified and give the commander-in-chief room to operate.

Speaking on CNN’s “Inside Politics,” Donalds pushed back on concerns from some House Republicans who have expressed frustration over limited briefings from the administration regarding military plans.

Donalds emphasized that the Constitution vests authority in a single commander-in-chief, arguing that excessive demands from Congress risk interfering with ongoing operations.

“We elect one commander-in-chief, not 435,” Donalds said, stressing that lawmakers should avoid inserting themselves into real-time military decision-making.

He suggested that calls for immediate answers, just weeks into the conflict, are premature and could hinder the administration’s ability to effectively manage the situation. According to Donalds, the Trump administration is already signaling that the conflict may be de-escalating, pointing to recent comments indicating efforts to wind down hostilities.

Rather than fueling internal divisions, Donalds urged Republicans to remain patient and allow events to unfold, assuring that Congress will receive answers in due time.
