Actor Robert De Niro, 82, claimed Monday that President Donald Trump will “never” leave and continued to attack the president during an appearance on MS NOW host Nicolle Wallace’s podcast, “The Best People.”
De Niro repeatedly urged listeners to resist Trump and his political movement. “People have to resist, resist, resist, resist, resist. That’s the only way. There’s no magic. There’s nothing people are not going to go away, even if Trump dies for some reason, by having an illness or something. Parts of that movement are still there, and that’s the scary part. It has to be neutralized by the people,” he said.
The actor called Trump an “idiot” and said, “We've got to get rid of him … he’s gonna ruin the country. Everything that this country has worked for and represents.” De Niro also criticized independent voters and congressional leaders for enabling Trump’s political success.
De Niro became emotional during the interview, insisting Americans must protect the nation. “You have to lift people. You have to bring them together. Period. You can’t divide people. You can’t win that way,” he said.
The actor has a history of repeated anti-Trump remarks, previously calling the president a “Nazi,” questioning his humanity, and describing him as a threat to the country. Trump has responded in kind on social media, mocking De Niro’s mental and physical stature.
