Actor Shia LaBeouf, 39, was arrested and charged with two counts of simple battery after an incident during Mardi Gras celebrations in New Orleans. Police reported that LaBeouf became increasingly aggressive at a Royal Street business, striking a staff member multiple times when asked to leave.

After leaving briefly, LaBeouf returned in an allegedly more confrontational state, striking the same staffer again and punching a second man in the nose. Police said LaBeouf was held down by bystanders until authorities arrived and was treated at a hospital before his arrest.

Viral video of the incident circulated online, showing the confrontation, though it appears LaBeouf may have also been physically restrained during the altercation.

This is not LaBeouf’s first legal or public controversy. He previously entered court-mandated rehabilitation in 2017 following arrests for public intoxication and disorderly conduct, and he faced misdemeanor battery and theft charges in 2020, for which he completed private therapy for anger management.

Authorities have charged LaBeouf amid ongoing scrutiny of his behavior, adding to the actor’s history of legal troubles and personal challenges.
