Vince Shlomi, the infomercial pitchman best known as the “ShamWow guy,” released his first campaign ad Sunday in his bid to unseat 84-year-old Republican Rep. John Carter in Texas’s 31st Congressional District, using over-the-top showmanship, anti-woke messaging, and a direct attack on the longtime incumbent.
The ad opens with Vince holding up a photo of Carter and declaring, “I’m running for Congress against this guy. Stop having a politician that’s worse than Biden.” He then launches into a familiar infomercial-style pitch, promising to “soak up the swamp, clean the house, and pick up those liberal tears at the same time,” while vowing to “slap chop the nuts out of the woke, making less bluehead commies and more red-blooded Americans.” The spot has garnered millions of views across social media since its release.
Vince has said the 2025 assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk helped motivate his decision to run. In a November 2025 interview with Fox News Digital, he said Kirk’s spirit “drawn me to do this” and described himself as “the original woke buster.” In a separate interview with TIME the same month, Offer said his goals include destroying “wokeism” and bringing happiness back to the country amid political division.
The ad frames Vince as a political outsider bringing infomercial energy to Washington to confront liberal agendas and establishment politics. Reactions from conservatives have ranged from amusement to support, with some praising the blunt, unfiltered approach as a contrast to career politicians.
Texas’s 31st District is considered solidly Republican, but Vince’s high-profile challenge has injected attention into the race. His campaign is leaning heavily on viral appeal and confrontational messaging as he seeks to build momentum against Carter in the GOP primary.
