Three men died, and 17 others were injured when debris from a Ukrainian drone struck a meat warehouse in the Moscow region early Wednesday, Russian officials reported. The attack marked the largest Ukrainian drone assault on the capital area since the start of the war.

Russia's Defense Ministry stated that Ukrainian forces launched 343 drones overnight, with air defenses downing 91 near Moscow. The incident occurred around 05:14 local time (02:14 GMT) at a Miratorg agricultural distribution center in the village of Yam, close to Domodedovo airport. The victims were employees aged 38, 43, and 50; one was a security guard, and the other two had just begun their shifts.

Moscow region Governor Andrei Vorobyov confirmed the deaths and injuries, noting that 18 people were hurt, including three children. Miratorg, one of Russia's largest meat producers, reported two employees killed initially by falling debris, with a third succumbing to injuries. All four Moscow airports, Domodedovo, Vnukovo, Sheremetyevo, and Zhukovsky, suspended flights briefly due to the threat.

Ukraine's General Staff claimed the drones targeted oil facilities in the Moscow and Oryol regions. Russia described the strikes as an assault on civilian infrastructure.

The raid escalates Ukraine's deep strikes into Russian territory, part of a pattern where Kyiv has intensified long-range drone operations against Moscow's economic and military targets. Similar attacks have previously disrupted Russian airports and fuel depots. Russia has responded with its own drone and missile barrages on Ukrainian cities, causing civilian casualties.
