Tim Allen has finished reading the entire Bible, concluding a 13-month journey the conservative actor and comedian says left him “humbled, enlightened and amazed.”
“Finished the entire Bible. It’s been a 13-month word-by-word, page-by-page, no-skimming journey,” Allen wrote in a Feb. 4 post on X. “Humbled, enlightened and amazed at what I read and what I learned.”
“I will rest and meditate on so much,” he added. “I will begin it again.”
Allen, known for his roles as Tim “The Toolman” Taylor in Home Improvement, Mike Baxter in Last Man Standing, and for voicing Buzz Lightyear in the Toy Story film series, first announced in August 2024 that he had begun reading Scripture.
“Never took the time in all my years to ever read and really read the Bible,” Allen shared at the time. “Currently almost through the Jerusalem Bible Old Testament and almost done with the Prophets. … So far amazing and not at all what I was expecting.”
Since then, Allen has periodically updated followers on his progress through the Bible. In June 2025, he announced he had completed the Old Testament and had begun the New Testament.
“Finished the Old Testament,” Allen wrote. “It is such a gift when I get out of the way and the words and meaning flow.” He also highlighted the Apostle Paul’s letter to the Romans, adding, “I am amazed in seven pages!”
Allen’s Feb. 4 post announcing he had completed the entire Bible has drawn significant attention online, garnering roughly 1.8 million views as of this writing.
Christians and supporters have praised Allen for publicly sharing his faith journey and for committing to read Scripture carefully rather than selectively. Allen has indicated the experience is ongoing, saying he plans to read the Bible again after taking time to reflect on what he has learned.
