A toddler was lightly injured after reaching into a wolf enclosure at ZooAmerica North American Wildlife Park, part of the Hersheypark entertainment complex in Pennsylvania.
Zoo officials said the child crawled under an exterior metal fence and put his hand through the enclosure barrier, where a Gray wolf approached and made contact. The child was never fully inside the habitat, and the injuries were described as minor.
In a statement, the zoo emphasized that the animal’s behavior was consistent with natural instincts and not considered aggressive. Officials also noted that the exhibit is designed with multiple layers of protection, along with clear signage instructing visitors to remain in designated viewing areas.
The incident occurred after the child was reportedly unsupervised when he accessed the outer fencing. Zoo authorities stressed that guests are expected to closely monitor children and follow all posted safety guidelines.
ZooAmerica, located in Hershey, Pennsylvania, houses several native North American species, including three gray wolves. The facility is part of a larger theme park destination that attracts families and visitors year-round.
The incident marks another safety-related episode at Hersheypark in recent years, though no serious injuries were reported in this case.
