President Donald J. Trump announced Thursday that the Department of Education is issuing new official guidance to protect and strengthen the right to prayer in public schools, describing the move as a “big deal” during remarks at the 74th annual National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C.
Speaking at the prayer breakfast, Trump highlighted the administration’s ongoing commitment to religious liberty, stating: “Today, I’m also pleased to announce that the Department of Education is officially issuing its new guidance to protect the right to prayer in our public schools.”
He emphasized that the guidance is designed to ensure students and educators can freely exercise their faith without interference, aligning with long-standing conservative calls to restore prayer and religious expression in public education after decades of perceived restrictions.
Trump predicted the move would face immediate legal challenges from Democrats. “But we’ll win it,” he said. “They’ve sued me for everything. I’m the most sued human being in history. I got impeached twice over nothing.”
The announcement reinforces the administration’s broader education agenda, which prioritizes parental rights, school choice, and traditional values over what supporters call progressive indoctrination. With the guidance now being issued, schools across the country will soon receive clearer directions on protecting prayer rights, potentially reshaping daily life in public education.
