President Donald J. Trump has thrown his full support behind State Rep. Michelle Davis in the Republican primary for Indiana’s 41st State Senate District, calling her a “REAL Republican” and a “winner” who will defend Hoosier values. In a fiery Truth Social post, Trump condemned incumbent Sen. Greg Walker as a “RINO” for siding with Democrats to block congressional redistricting, a move that Republicans say could have cost the party two U.S. House seats and endangered the national GOP majority.
President Trump made his stance clear early in the May 2026 primary battle for the 41st District, a reliably red seat that Trump carried by 33 points in previous elections. Labeling Walker an “America Last politician” and “RINO LOSER,” Trump criticized him for blocking redistricting legislation that Republicans argued would have flipped two additional House seats from Democratic to Republican control, jeopardizing recent America First gains in Congress.
In contrast, President Trump praised Davis for her record of voting with Republicans to advance redistricting measures, highlighting her loyalty and alignment with party priorities. He positioned her as a tireless advocate for Hoosier values, including economic growth, tax cuts, energy independence, border security, support for the military and law enforcement, election integrity, and the Second Amendment.
President Trump’s post included polling graphics showing Walker leading Davis by 14 percent in current surveys, but under a scenario with Trump’s endorsement, Davis surges to a 36 percent lead. This demonstrates the impact of his support and the MAGA base in shaping primary outcomes.
The 41st District spans Hamilton, Madison, and Delaware counties, deep-red territory where conservative voters have consistently backed Trump and GOP policies. With the primary months away, the endorsement is expected to energize Davis’s grassroots support and put Walker on the defensive over his record.
With President Trump’s backing, Michelle Davis now enters the race as the clear frontrunner in a contest that once appeared routine, a potent reminder of the outsized influence the former president wields in GOP primaries.
