President Donald Trump has announced that he will not sign any bills until the SAVE America Act is passed, emphasizing the need for election integrity and strict voter verification measures. In a post on Truth Social, Trump praised election integrity activist Scott Presler for his work advocating for the act, noting its broad public support.
President Trump called for the “best version” of the legislation, including proof of citizenship to register, mandatory voter identification, limited mail-in ballots for military members or those with illness, and restrictions on transgender medical procedures for children. “It must be done immediately. It supersedes everything else,” Trump wrote.
The president has repeatedly urged Republican lawmakers to prioritize the SAVE America Act. He told Senate leaders, including Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) and Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX), that passage of the act is a condition for his endorsement in the upcoming Texas Senate race.
Polling data shows strong public support for the legislation. A February 25-26 Harvard-Harris poll of 1,999 registered voters found that 71 percent back the SAVE America Act, including its voter ID and citizenship requirements. Support breaks down to 91 percent of Republicans, 50 percent of Democrats, and 69 percent of independents.
President Trump’s directive underscores his focus on election integrity and sets a clear legislative priority for Congress in the coming weeks.
