Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard was photographed and filmed speaking on the phone inside a vehicle filled with boxes outside the Fulton County Election Hub and Operations Center in Atlanta on January 28, 2026, shortly after the FBI executed a search warrant at the facility. The operation has renewed national attention on unresolved questions surrounding Fulton County’s handling of the 2020 presidential election.
The FBI confirmed it conducted a court-authorized search at the Fulton County Election Hub early Tuesday morning. While federal officials have not disclosed the scope or specific targets of the warrant, sources familiar with the matter say the search is tied to ongoing investigations into alleged misconduct, chain-of-custody failures, and potential irregularities in the processing and counting of ballots during the 2020 general election, particularly absentee and mail-in voting that proved decisive in Georgia’s narrow Biden victory.
Shortly after the search began, Gabbard, who was appointed Director of National Intelligence by President Trump in early 2025 and confirmed with bipartisan support, was seen at the scene. Photos and video circulating online show her standing inside an SUV or van loaded with cardboard boxes and file containers while speaking intently on her phone as agents and personnel moved in and out of the building.
The reason for Gabbard’s presence has not been publicly explained. As DNI, she oversees the entire U.S. intelligence community, including agencies involved in election security and counterintelligence, and has previously voiced support for examining unresolved issues from the 2020 election.
Fulton County became a national flashpoint after video surfaced on election night showing workers pulling containers of ballots from under tables after observers had been told counting was finished. Subsequent audits and lawsuits raised questions about signature verification, ballot duplication, and chain-of-custody procedures. While investigations by Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation concluded there was no evidence of widespread fraud sufficient to overturn the election, the county has remained under sustained scrutiny from election integrity advocates and conservative groups.
Gabbard’s appearance during the FBI operation has fueled speculation that the search may involve sensitive materials or that she was present in an oversight role. Conservative commentators have described the development as long-overdue accountability, while critics accuse the Trump administration of politicizing federal law enforcement.
No arrests have been reported, and the FBI has not yet released details on what was seized or the precise focus of the warrant. The Fulton County search is part of a broader series of post-2020 election reviews revived or expanded under the Trump administration, including efforts in Arizona, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
