At least 12 people were injured, including six juveniles, in a shooting near Florida A&M University's Bragg Memorial Stadium in Tallahassee on Saturday night during the university's homecoming weekend.

Tallahassee police said 11 victims suffered gunshot wounds while a twelfth person, the grandmother of one of the shooting victims, was injured while fleeing the scene. Six of the injured were adults and six were juveniles, with the youngest victim an 11-year-old. Three victims sustained serious injuries, including one in critical condition, while the others were reported stable.

The shooting occurred just before 8 p.m. near the intersection of Perry and Manatee streets, adjacent to the stadium, shortly after the Rattlers' homecoming football game against Arkansas-Pine Bluff. The game drew a crowd of over 20,000 fans and ended with a 31-28 loss for FAMU. Police Chief Lawrence Revell told reporters that preliminary investigation indicated a fight broke out prior to the shooting and described it as an isolated incident involving two or three individuals.

The area behind the stadium is typically packed with food trucks and vendors during home football games, creating a crowded environment as fans and attendees left the game and homecoming events. Revell expressed devastation at the press conference and pledged to find answers for victims and families. He noted that officers put their own safety at risk in the moments immediately following the shooting to carry victims to safety and transport them to the hospital before the scene was fully secured.

No arrests have been announced as of Sunday morning, and investigators continue to search for suspects. One of the victims was identified as a FAMU student. The university issued an alert about police activity near campus and stated that the campus itself remained safe. Florida State University, located about a mile away, issued its own emergency alert and said no one from its community appeared involved.

The incident unfolded in a crowded area as fans and attendees left the game and homecoming events. Police have not released further details on potential motives or weapons used as the investigation by the Violent Crimes Unit remains active. The shooting has been described as one of the city's worst mass shootings in recent memory, occurring amid homecoming celebrations that included a parade earlier in the day.
