It was the most solemn and poignant moment of the Republican National Committee's midterm convention; a tribute aired to honor those who died during the September 11, 2001, terror attacks on New York, Washington, D.C., and Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

The event at the American Airlines Center featured a segment honoring the victims and first responders from the 2001 terrorist attacks, coming on the eve of the milestone anniversary.

The video tribute marked the September 11 attacks, which included images of the devastation and clips of then-President George W. Bush’s visit to Ground Zero and a triumphant first pitch in the 2001 World Series.

It also included images of then-New York real estate figure Donald Trump striding into Manhattan and talking to the media about employees for his business who were working at the time of the attack.

The video later turned to images of some Democratic figures who have been critical of U.S. foreign policy and offered more callous statements about the calamity.

The 9/11 observance aligned with the broader program that also paid tribute to the late conservative activist Charlie Kirk on the first anniversary of his assassination.

Attendees heard calls to remember the attacks and stand firm against threats to American principles.

Organizers positioned the event as a platform to showcase party achievements and rally support, with the 9/11 tribute underscoring themes of resilience and remembrance central to the Republican message.

During the video, a narrator intoned, “2,977 innocent people lost their lives,” as the segment transitioned to home videos of the victims’ families.

“Always remember who they are,” the narrator said solemnly. “Say their names. Honor their sacrifice. Defend Freedom. Never forget September 11.”
