Britney Spears has entered a treatment facility after being arrested last month in California on suspicion of driving under the influence.
A representative for Spears confirmed that she voluntarily checked into rehab following the incident, which occurred in early March in Ventura, where authorities said she was stopped for erratic driving at high speeds. According to law enforcement, Spears showed signs of impairment and underwent field sobriety testing at the scene.
The representative described the arrest as an “inexcusable” situation and said the move to seek treatment is intended as a step toward addressing ongoing personal challenges. Family members are expected to be involved in supporting her during the process.
The development adds to a long and highly publicized history of personal and legal struggles for the pop star. In 2008, Spears lost custody of her children with Kevin Federline and was placed under a conservatorship led by her father, Jamie Spears.
That arrangement remained in place for more than a decade before ending in 2021 following the high-profile #FreeBritney movement, which drew national attention to her legal situation and personal autonomy.
Despite those past challenges, Spears mounted a significant career comeback in the years after the conservatorship was established, releasing multiple albums and headlining a successful Las Vegas residency.
Her entry into rehab marks the latest chapter as she faces renewed legal and personal scrutiny following the recent arrest.
