The League of Conservation Voters plans to spend $110 million through its affiliated groups to support Democratic candidates in the 2026 midterm elections. This total represents a significant increase from earlier commitments and positions the environmental group as one of the largest independent spenders aiding Democrats this cycle.
The spending targets highly competitive House and Senate races, with an emphasis on affordability concerns and rising utility costs. The group has focused its messaging on energy prices in battleground states including Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Texas.
Earlier this year, the LCV Victory Fund, the group's super PAC, outlined plans for at least $50 million in independent expenditures. The updated figure of $110 million reflects expanded efforts in advertising, field programs, and content creation ahead of the November elections.
The announcement coincides with broader Democratic strategies linking climate policies to voter concerns over living costs. Groups aligned with Democrats have spent heavily on ads referencing utility bills, with over $191 million allocated in the first nine months of 2026 according to advertising data.
The League of Conservation Voters has previously spent tens of millions in midterm cycles, including more than $40 million in 2022. Its current push comes amid Republican advantages in overall fundraising and as energy affordability remains a dominant campaign theme.
Voters in key states continue to prioritize economic issues, and the group's investments aim to connect environmental priorities with those concerns in targeted districts.
