Democrats are organizing a major post-election strategy session in Denver from November 12 to 14, just over a week after the midterm elections. The event, titled "What's Next," is hosted by Majority Democrats and sponsored by MD PAC, a group formed to reshape and expand the party's reach.
The summit is expected to draw over 2,000 attendees, including several figures viewed as potential 2028 presidential candidates. Confirmed participants include former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Sens. Raphael Warnock of Georgia, Chris Murphy of Connecticut, Ruben Gallego of Arizona, and Elissa Slotkin of Michigan, along with New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill and Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger. Recent additions reported include Sens. Cory Booker of New Jersey and Chris Van Hollen of Maryland, as well as Rep. Ro Khanna of California.
Organizers describe the gathering as the defining post-election convening, where attendees will review midterm results and debate competing visions for the party's future through 2028. Sessions will feature keynote speeches, debates, discussions on midterm lessons, and opportunities for activists and partner organizations.
The choice of Denver reflects its status as one of three finalists, alongside Boston and Philadelphia, under consideration to host the 2028 Democratic National Convention. Majority Democrats has highlighted Colorado's political transformation as a model for building broader coalitions.
The event is not an official Democratic National Committee function. It comes as the party seeks to rebound from recent national losses and position itself for the next presidential cycle. Additional speakers and participants are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
