A shooting at an apartment building in downtown Minneapolis on Wednesday afternoon left two civilians dead and multiple others injured, including three Minneapolis police officers.

Minneapolis police responded to reports of gunfire at the Shoreline Plaza Apartments near 15 East Grant Street at 4:36 p.m. Officers arrived to find multiple victims suffering from gunshot wounds and the shooter on the second floor of the building. A significant law enforcement presence followed, including SWAT teams and officers from multiple agencies.

Two people have been pronounced dead as of Wednesday night, one at the scene and one after transport to a hospital, with three more victims taken to Hennepin County Medical Center for treatment. Three Minneapolis police officers were also among the injured, two of which from gunshot wounds. All officers are currently expected to survive.

The suspected shooter was declared deceased at the location from a self-inflicted wound, according to law enforcement.

Sources indicated that officers had responded to the same apartment earlier in the day for a disturbance involving the suspect, who had been evicted from the unit that Wednesday. The motive remains under investigation.
