Video from a demonstration in Philadelphia shows a small group of protesters openly supporting Hamas and Hezbollah, chanting for U.S. soldiers to return home in caskets. “Until we have done everything in our power to bring the United States to its knees, let us not lose sight of the enemy!” the lead protester said. The crowd cheered and clapped as he continued, “Hamas! Hezbollah! …All of the resistance forces we celebrate!”
Fetterman shared the video on his social media account, posting: “These a**holes chanting for the death of our servicemembers. Where’s the Dem outrage and condemnation?” The senator’s post called out members of his own party for their silence in response to the demonstration.
Fetterman has frequently broken with Democratic Party leadership, drawing attention for his support of Israel and occasional alignment with Republican positions. In past remarks, he criticized his party as being driven by “Trump Derangement Syndrome,” suggesting Democrats are now unable to praise policies or positions without facing internal backlash.
His stance has led to falling support among Democratic voters in Pennsylvania. A recent Quinnipiac poll found the majority of voters disapproved of the senator’s performance, raising questions about his prospects for reelection. CNN poll analyst Harry Enten said, “There is basically no doubt in my mind that if Fetterman decides to run for re-election as a Democrat, he will face a primary challenge, and it will be a very competitive one.”
Fetterman’s comments and the video have sparked debate about partisan divisions within the Democratic Party and the political risks for lawmakers who openly criticize their own members.
