Former NASCAR driver Jennifer Jo Cobb has been ordered to pay $850,000 to a North Carolina woman who accused Cobb of having an affair with her husband, following a jury verdict in the case.

Tracey Hughes sued Cobb over her relationship with Clayton Odie Hughes, whom Tracey had been married to for 17 years. A jury ultimately sided with Hughes, awarding her $50,000 for alienation of affection and $800,000 for criminal conversation.

The lawsuit alleged that Cobb “willfully, intentionally, and deliberately” pursued Clayton Hughes and interfered with the couple’s marriage. Hughes claimed Cobb sent Clayton text messages and made phone calls to arrange meetings where the two could have sex.

Hughes also said the relationship caused her to lose her husband’s support, damaged her feelings and reputation, and ultimately destroyed the marriage.

The alleged affair began in 2020 and ended in January 2021, according to the lawsuit. Hughes said she and Clayton eventually separated as a result of the breakdown of their marriage.

Cobb was also married at the time to Eddie Troconis, her husband of 11 years. The couple is now separated, although it has not been publicly established when their separation occurred relative to the alleged affair.

Cobb began her NASCAR career in 2004 and later operated her own team, Jennifer Jo Cobb Racing. She has not competed since 2024.

During her career, Cobb competed in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, ARCA Menards Series, and NASCAR Whelen Euro Series. She also holds several records in NASCAR’s Craftsman Truck Series, including the highest overall season points finish by a female driver.
