Rep. Randy Fine, R-Fla., said Friday he plans to introduce a resolution to expel Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., from the House if the Justice Department finds she committed immigration fraud.

Fine, a member of the House Freedom Caucus, made the comments after a federal court filing listed Omar under the name "Ilhan Nur Said Elmi," with "Ilhan Abdullahi Omar" noted as an alias. The filing has prompted fresh questions about her identity and immigration records.

"I assume that she’s not a citizen, so we might not even have to do that," Fine told Fox News Digital. "You can’t be in Congress if you’re not a citizen of the United States, but if it isn’t automatic, I absolutely will demand expulsion immediately."

The remarks follow a federal raid on Omar’s Washington home on Oct. 12 as part of an ongoing criminal investigation into her immigration status. Homeland Security Investigations agents, working with the Justice Department, executed a judicially authorized search warrant. Officials have described the probe as involving potential false statements on immigration paperwork filed by Omar’s late father when the family entered the United States.

Omar, who was born in Somalia and became a U.S. citizen in 2000, has denied any wrongdoing and described the investigation as politically motivated. She has rejected claims that she used a false name.

President Trump has also weighed in, stating that Omar must immediately resign from Congress because she used a fake name to be sworn in. He directed allies to inform House Speaker Mike Johnson of the matter.

The House requires a two-thirds vote to expel a member. Fine acknowledged that Democrats would likely attempt to block any such effort.

The investigation into Omar’s finances and disclosures began under the prior administration, a point Fine highlighted to counter accusations of selective enforcement. Separate inquiries have also examined her financial disclosures.

Omar faces reelection in the upcoming midterms. Federal authorities have issued subpoenas to relatives as part of the broader probe into immigration records.

Fine criticized Democrats for what he called a refusal to enforce basic citizenship requirements for public office. He said the episode underscores differences in views on borders and American identity.
