A New York-based importer has recalled hundreds of boxes of mangoes distributed to four northeastern states due to the potential risk of salmonella contamination.

Panorama Produce of Mamaroneck, New York, initiated the recall of 302 boxes of size 9 Martina-brand mangoes after the Food and Drug Administration found salmonella in mangoes grown on the same Mexican farm. Those sampled mangoes were not distributed into U.S. commerce. The recalled product shares the same source, prompting the precautionary action.

The mangoes were shipped between August 10 and August 21 and sold at select Walmart stores in Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. No illnesses have been reported in connection with the recalled items.

Consumers can identify the affected mangoes by the Martina-branded cases and individual fruit stickers. Each mango carries a light blue sticker labeled "Agrofepac, Produce of Mexico," along with PLU number 4584 and UPC number 07503061948050.
