Mazzei, a former state senator and Oklahoma Secretary of Budget under Governor Kevin Stitt, launched his campaign in April 2025. Mazzei served 12 years in the Oklahoma Senate, including as Finance Committee chairman, before term limits ended his tenure in 2016. As budget secretary from 2018 to 2020, he focused on cutting waste and promoting accountability. Today, he leads Trinity Strategic Wealth, a financial planning firm in Tulsa.

The crowded Republican primary features prominent contenders, including Attorney General Gentner Drummond, former House Speaker Charles McCall, Senate President Matt Pinnell, and others such as Chip Keating and Leisa Mitchell Haynes. Recent prediction markets show Mazzei holding a slight edge over Drummond on Kalshi, marking a surge from earlier sub-10% odds as of mid-April.

Mazzei's campaign emphasizes eliminating property taxes for seniors and veterans, protecting state land from foreign ownership, education reforms focused on literacy and accountability, job creation, and government transparency. He has garnered endorsements from figures like U.S. Rep. Josh Brecheen, former Attorney General John M. O'Connor, and several past legislators.

The policy filter aligns with Mazzei's self-described conservative values rooted in faith, family, and freedom. His campaign website highlights a pro-life stance, opposing abortion in all circumstances, and commitments to fiscal discipline.
