Paul Pelosi, husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, pleaded no contest Tuesday to misdemeanor hit-and-run and an unlawful turn infraction stemming from a July 3 crash in Yountville, California.
Napa County Superior Court Judge Scott R.L. Young sentenced the 86-year-old to one year of summary probation, prohibited him from driving for six months, and ordered him to complete a 10-day work program. Pelosi also paid $11,191.14 in restitution to the owner of the vehicle he struck and was required to pay court fines and fees.
Authorities said Pelosi was driving a brown convertible when he struck an unoccupied parked vehicle on Yount Street, briefly stopped, and then left the scene. Deputies later located his damaged vehicle nearby. No injuries occurred, and prosecutors reported no allegations of drugs or alcohol involvement. Pelosi was not arrested at the time.
The Napa County District Attorney’s Office issued a news release on the case due to significant public and media interest, noting that such releases are uncommon for misdemeanor property-damage incidents. The office charged Pelosi on July 17.
This marks the second traffic-related legal matter for Pelosi in recent years. He previously pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor DUI after a 2022 crash in the same area and received five days in jail along with three years of probation.
A Pelosi family spokesperson stated in July that Paul Pelosi had personally apologized to the vehicle owner and assured them he would take responsibility for the damage.
