President Donald Trump endorsed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for reelection Sunday, calling him a “Great Warrior Prime Minister” and a crucial American partner in confronting Iran as Netanyahu faces a competitive fight to remain in power.
In a lengthy Truth Social post addressed to the Israeli public, Trump made clear that he wants Netanyahu to secure another term, praising his leadership and warning that a different prime minister could complicate America’s efforts to counter Tehran.
“Please let this Letter serve to represent my Complete and Total Endorsement of Bibi Netanyahu in his upcoming Race for Re-Election as Prime Minister of Israel,” Trump wrote. “BIBI NETANYAHU WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!”

Trump credited Netanyahu with standing firm against domestic and international opposition while working with the United States against Iran.
“Bibi Netanyahu has been a Great Warrior Prime Minister, and an even greater Partner for Peace in combatting the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Trump declared.
The president also suggested that Israel’s choice of leadership could affect how much responsibility Washington would have to assume in confronting Tehran.
“If Israel has the wrong Leader, which would be anyone other than Bibi, America will have to do this work ourselves, and I am not inclined to do so,” Trump wrote.
The endorsement reflects the close relationship between the two leaders, whose partnership has shaped several major American initiatives in the Middle East. During Trump’s first administration, the United States recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, moved its embassy there, recognized Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights and helped broker the Abraham Accords, which established diplomatic relations between Israel and several Arab nations.
Trump had signaled his support for Netanyahu earlier in the week during an interview with Newsmax, telling host Rob Finnerty that the two leaders had enjoyed a productive relationship.
“I've had a very good relationship with him. We've had good success together,” Trump said. “We had a very successful partnership ... in terms of a military partnership.”
Netanyahu’s reelection bid comes amid a closely contested political landscape, with his right-wing and religious coalition facing opposition parties seeking to end his lengthy tenure. The outcome will depend on the distribution of seats in Israel’s 120-member Knesset and whether either political bloc can assemble a governing coalition.
A coalition generally needs at least 61 seats to command a parliamentary majority, meaning even a narrow shift in support could determine who forms the next government.
Former Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot has emerged as a prominent opposition figure through his moderate-right Yashar party. Eisenkot, who also served on Israel’s war cabinet, has emphasized national security, political accountability and the need for new leadership.
Netanyahu, meanwhile, is campaigning on his decades of political experience, close ties with Washington and record of confronting Iran and other regional threats.
Trump’s public intervention places the American president squarely behind Netanyahu as Israeli voters prepare to decide the country’s political direction. His endorsement could resonate with voters who view close cooperation with Washington as essential to Israel’s security, although its ultimate effect on the election remains uncertain.
