The White House aired a government-funded television advertisement featuring President Donald Trump during NFL games on Sunday. The 30-second spot, which ran on Fox broadcasts of the Washington Commanders versus Seattle Seahawks and Carolina Panthers versus Cleveland Browns games, shows Trump walking down a hallway while his voice declares, "This is the final battle." He continues by vowing to "cast out the communists, Marxists, and fascists," throw off the "sick political class," rout the "fake news media," and "liberate America from these villains once and for all."
The ad is nearly identical to a video Trump posted on Truth Social in January 2024 during his presidential campaign. The government version replaces the campaign branding with the disclosure "Paid for by the U.S. Government" at the end. Advertising analytics firm AdImpact tracked the spot and similar government-funded ads airing across multiple markets this weekend, including during college football and other programs.
This marks the latest in a series of taxpayer-funded ads promoting the president's agenda ahead of the November midterm elections. The White House has described the commercials as public service announcements that highlight achievements such as tax cuts and commitments to law and order, comparing them to past efforts by administrations of both parties on topics like Medicare and public health. Officials noted that President Trump is not on the ballot and the messages contain no explicit call to action for voters.
Democrats have raised objections, with some lawmakers questioning the use of public funds for content they view as promotional. The ads have drawn attention for their timing, coming roughly five weeks before the midterms when control of Congress is at stake. Data from AdImpact estimates spending on these spots has reached into the hundreds of thousands of dollars across recent airings.
The messaging echoes themes from Trump's earlier campaign, focusing on opposition to socialism and defense of traditional American values. Broadcasts reached large audiences during high-profile Sunday games, extending the reach of the administration's communications strategy.
