President Donald Trump arrived in South Carolina on Wednesday to rally support for Republican Sen. Darline Graham ahead of the November midterm elections.
The event at the T. Ed Garrison Arena and Expo Center near Clemson University is set for 7 p.m., with doors opening at 3:30 p.m. Graham, appointed in July to complete the term of her late brother, Sen. Lindsey Graham, is seeking a full six-year term. Trump handpicked her for the seat and has backed her campaign despite some intra-party resistance.
NewsNation Decision Desk HQ polling shows Graham holding a narrow lead over Democratic challenger Annie Andrews at 46.2 percent to 43.9 percent. A Libertarian candidate is also on the ballot, adding uncertainty to the outcome less than two weeks before early voting concludes and Election Day on November 3.
This marks Trump's second campaign stop in the South in two days. He rallied Tuesday night in North Carolina for Senate candidate Michael Whatley. The South Carolina visit follows an August appearance in Myrtle Beach during Graham's primary runoff.
Trump's broader midterm push aims to help Republicans hold or expand majorities amid historical patterns of losses for the president's party. Graham's race stands out as particularly personal for the president, who has described the midterms as a referendum on his agenda.
The rally coincides with early voting that began October 19 in South Carolina. Analysts note the contest could influence Senate control, with outside spending and turnout efforts intensifying in the final stretch.
