Vice President JD Vance confronted a protester who interrupted his speech at the Republican midterm convention in Dallas Thursday by waving a Mexican flag as Vance addressed the crowd.
Vance responded directly to the protester, saying, “Well, my friend, if you love Mexico so much, get your a** over there. I’ll buy you the plane ticket.”

The exchange drew attention from the crowd before Vance returned to his speech. The interruption came as the vice president delivered the keynote address during the second and final night of the Republican gathering at the American Airlines Center.
Vance spent much of his speech discussing the Trump administration’s agenda and the issues Republicans are emphasizing heading into the Nov. 3 midterm elections. His remarks included discussions of immigration, the economy, and national security.
Vance also devoted part of his address to remembering Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated one year ago Thursday at Utah Valley University. Vance described Kirk as a close friend and delivered an emotional message to Kirk’s two young children.
The brief confrontation with the protester became one of the more notable unscripted moments of Vance’s address, with the vice president choosing to respond directly before moving on with his speech.
