Whole Foods Market announced a recall of additional products containing jalapeño peppers on Wednesday due to potential salmonella contamination.

The items, sourced from supplier Coast Citrus Distributors, include select salsas, guacamole, pico de gallo and other prepared foods from the chain's produce and prepared foods departments. They were sold in 12 states and carry "Best Before" or "Best By" dates primarily between August 7 and August 16.

This action follows earlier recalls by Taylor Fresh Foods and other retailers tied to the same supplier amid a multistate salmonella outbreak. The Food and Drug Administration has linked the peppers to cases affecting at least 27 states, though no illnesses have been reported in connection with the Whole Foods products.

Whole Foods said approximately 43 to 45 items were affected. Customers who purchased the recalled products should discard them or return them to the store for a refund. The company is working with the FDA on the matter.

The outbreak investigation remains ongoing, with health officials urging consumers to check product labels and avoid any items matching the recall descriptions.
