Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Canada will deliver a very important package of air defense systems along with support for the energy sector. He made the remarks on Thursday before a scheduled meeting with Prime Minister Mark Carney.

Canada ranks among Ukraine's strongest backers in the ongoing conflict. The country has already committed more than C$25.5 billion in assistance.

The new air defense package comes as Ukraine continues to face Russian strikes on its infrastructure and military positions. Energy sector support is intended to help restore and protect critical facilities damaged in recent attacks.

Zelenskyy has repeatedly sought advanced air defense capabilities from Western partners to counter aerial threats. Canadian officials have not yet detailed the exact contents or timeline for delivery of the latest package.

This latest commitment builds on years of Canadian military, financial, and humanitarian aid to Ukraine. Ottawa has provided weapons, training, and economic support since the full-scale invasion began in 2022.

The meeting between Zelenskyy and Carney is expected to focus on further coordination of military assistance and long-term reconstruction planning.
