Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani was hospitalized in critical but stable condition at a Florida hospital on Sunday, according to a statement from his spokesman.

The 81-year-old Giuliani, known as "America's Mayor" for his leadership after the 9/11 attacks, remains under medical care as details about the cause of his hospitalization emerge slowly. His spokesman released the following update: "Mayor Rudy Giuliani is currently in the hospital, where he remains in critical but stable condition. Giuliani, who served as mayor from 1994 to 2001 and later advised former President Donald Trump on legal matters, has faced health challenges before. In 2000, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer during a routine exam and underwent successful treatment, including radiation therapy and brachytherapy. Last year, in August 2025, he suffered a fractured thoracic vertebra and other injuries in a car crash in New Hampshire after stopping to aid a woman in a domestic violence incident. He was released from the hospital days later and recovered well.
