The U.S. State Department announced that it will expand the availability of limited-edition "Patriot Passports" featuring President Donald Trump to passport agencies across the country beginning Aug. 8.

The commemorative documents mark the 250th anniversary of American independence and were initially offered only at the Washington Passport Agency in the nation's capital. Officials cited strong demand for the special edition as the reason for the broader rollout.

An additional 250,000 of the passports will become accessible at 27 passport agencies nationwide, the department stated. Applicants must schedule appointments to obtain one of the limited items.

The design includes a portrait of President Trump, custom artwork depicting America's history, the text of the Declaration of Independence, and a Freedom 250 gold flag. There is no extra cost beyond standard passport fees.

The State Department described the passports as a way to celebrate the historic milestone while maintaining all standard security features. The initial limited run drew significant interest, prompting the decision to increase production and distribution.

Applications for the special passports will remain available as long as supplies last at participating locations. The department has not indicated plans for further expansions beyond the current batch.
