President Donald Trump officially endorsed South Carolina Lieutenant Governor Pamela Evette to be the state’s next governor, calling her an “America First Patriot” who has stood with him since the beginning of his 2024 campaign.

In a detailed Truth Social post, Trump praised Evette’s loyalty, business background, and work alongside Gov. Henry McMaster. He highlighted her commitment to growing the economy, cutting taxes and regulations, securing the border, protecting the Second Amendment, and supporting farmers, veterans, and law enforcement. Trump also noted that Henry McMaster Jr. is expected to join her ticket as lieutenant governor.

Evette responded on X, saying she was “incredibly grateful” for the endorsement and crediting Trump’s influence for inspiring her entry into politics.

The endorsement comes as the South Carolina Republican gubernatorial primary remains highly competitive, with candidates including Attorney General Alan Wilson, Rep. Nancy Mace, and others still in the race. A primary is set for June 9, with a likely runoff in late June.

Wilson congratulated Evette on the endorsement while emphasizing his own record fighting for Trump’s agenda. Mace pushed back sharply, criticizing the state’s political establishment and saying she would not compromise her principles for an endorsement. Other candidates, including Rom Reddy, also responded by focusing on their own campaigns.

Trump’s support is expected to significantly strengthen Evette’s position in the deep-red state, where his endorsement has historically carried enormous weight among Republican primary voters.
