Three brothers were each sentenced to 30 years in federal prison on Tuesday for sex trafficking and related crimes.
U.S. District Judge Valerie Caproni handed down the sentences to Tal Alexander, 40, and his twin brothers Oren and Alon Alexander, 39, in Manhattan federal court. The men were convicted in March following a five-week trial.
Prosecutors described how the brothers, leveraging their wealth and connections in luxury real estate and social circles, lured women to parties, homes, and vacation spots in places like the Hamptons, New York City, Miami, and Aspen. They drugged victims and committed rapes and sexual assaults, sometimes recording the acts. More than 70 women came forward with allegations spanning over two decades.
"Your conduct was monstrous," Caproni told the brothers during the hearing. She rejected prosecutors' request for life sentences but imposed 30 years on certain counts, with additional terms running concurrently. The brothers also received 10 years of supervised release, sex offender treatment, and substantial fines totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars each.
Eleven victims testified at trial, and several spoke at sentencing about the lasting trauma. The brothers maintained their innocence, with defense attorneys arguing for the 15-year mandatory minimum and citing their roles as fathers. They plan to appeal.
Tal and Oren Alexander had been prominent luxury real estate brokers before their arrests. Alon worked in the family's security business. The convictions included sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion, conspiracy, and charges involving minors.
The case drew attention to patterns of abuse by privileged individuals who used status to target victims. Sentencing concludes the federal proceedings, though additional state charges remain in Florida.
