New polling from the Trafalgar Group shows Democratic Sen. Jon Ossoff leading Republican Rep. Mike Collins in Georgia and former Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper ahead of Republican Michael Whatley in North Carolina.
In Georgia, Ossoff received 49.4 percent support among likely voters, compared with 42.8 percent for Collins. The survey of 1,084 likely voters was conducted September 8-10.
The North Carolina race showed a similar margin, with Cooper at 48.2 percent and Whatley at 42.3 percent. The same sample size and field dates were used for the North Carolina survey.
The results put Ossoff 6.6 percentage points ahead of Collins and Cooper 5.9 points ahead of Whatley. Both races are among the Senate contests drawing national attention as voters prepare to decide control of the chamber in November.
The Trafalgar results also come as other recent surveys have shown Cooper holding a larger lead in North Carolina, including polls from Elon University and East Carolina University. Elon found Cooper leading Whatley 49% to 38%, while East Carolina had Cooper ahead 52% to 44%.
