Federal agents seized more than 2,000 pounds of methamphetamine hidden inside a shipment of cabbage in South Texas' Rio Grande Valley.

The Drug Enforcement Administration's McAllen office made the discovery as part of an ongoing Homeland Security Task Force investigation. Multiple agencies participated, including Homeland Security Investigations, the FBI, Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Border Patrol, and the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The drugs were concealed in a commercial tractor-trailer hauling the produce. Agents found the methamphetamine packages wrapped inside heads of cabbage, according to video released by the DEA's Houston division.

The seizure occurred on Tuesday. No arrests have been reported, and the investigation remains active. Officials have not disclosed the shipment's origin, destination, or carrier details.

This operation underscores the persistent efforts by drug traffickers to exploit legitimate freight routes for smuggling large quantities of narcotics across the southern border. The DEA described the find as a major seizure achieved through strong interagency partnerships.

Methamphetamine remains one of the most frequently intercepted drugs at the border. Such concealment methods highlight the challenges faced by enforcement teams monitoring commercial traffic.
