Country music legend Dolly Parton canceled her upcoming Las Vegas residency on Monday, citing ongoing health treatments that prevent her from performing.

The 80-year-old singer shared the news in a pair of Instagram videos, confirming the cancellation of her six-date run titled "Dolly: Live in Las Vegas" at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. The shows had been rescheduled to September 2026 after an initial postponement from December 2025 due to health challenges.

Parton explained that while she is responding well to medications and treatments, side effects, including feeling "swimmy-headed," make it impossible to perform safely. "I can't be dizzy carrying around banjos, guitars, and such on 5-inch heels, and you know that I'm going to be wearing them. Not to mention, all those heavy rhinestone outfits, the big hair, my big… uh, personality," she said in one video.

She likened her recovery to restoring an old classic car: "When they raised the hood on this old antique, they realized that I need to rebuild my engine and that my transmission is slipping... And for sure, my spark plugs need to be changed, because you know, as well as I know, that I can't lose my spark." Parton emphasized that "everything is treatable" and she is improving daily, though it will take time to reach stage-ready condition.

The star has dealt with kidney stones for years and noted recent disruptions to her immune and digestive systems. These issues follow the death of her husband, Carl Thomas Dean, on March 3, 2025, which she described as a difficult period marked by "a year of firsts." In March 2026, during a Dollywood event, she mentioned having "a few little health issues" but affirmed her team was addressing them.

Despite the setback, Parton remains active. She continues recording music, producing videos, visiting her Dollywood theme park, and developing projects, including a Nashville museum and hotel opening later this year, plus revisions to her Broadway musical for a potential fall or winter 2026 debut. "I've still got some healing to do, but I am on my way!" she assured fans, urging ticket holders to visit Las Vegas anyway and promising to see them "somewhere down the line."

Ticketmaster now lists the September dates as canceled, with refunds available to holders. Fans have responded with overwhelming support, sending cards, letters, and flowers that Parton said filled her home "like a botanical garden and post office." This residency would have marked her first major Las Vegas Strip engagement since the 1990s alongside Kenny Rogers.
