The Atlanta Falcons defeated the New Orleans Saints 45-24 on Monday night, dominating on the ground while handing New Orleans its third loss of the season.

Bijan Robinson led the Falcons with 145 rushing yards and two touchdowns, including a 59-yard score on Atlanta’s third play from scrimmage that immediately put the Saints on their heels.

Brian Robinson Jr. added three rushing touchdowns and 62 yards as Atlanta finished with 207 rushing yards and five touchdowns on the ground. The Falcons controlled the line of scrimmage throughout the game and never trailed.

Quarterback Michael Penix Jr. completed 15 of 20 passes for 223 yards and a touchdown. His biggest play came in the fourth quarter when he connected with Jahan Dotson for a 31-yard touchdown, extending Atlanta’s lead and sending many Saints fans toward the exits.

New Orleans received two touchdowns from Alvin Kamara, but the Saints struggled to establish the run, finishing with just 50 rushing yards as a team.

The Falcons improved to 2-2 with the victory, while New Orleans dropped to 1-3.

The 45 points were the most Atlanta had scored against the Saints since a 45-32 victory in 2016, which also came on the 10th anniversary of the Superdome’s reopening following Hurricane Katrina.
