Four people were shot Monday evening in Portsmouth, Virginia, with police reporting that a suspect is in custody and there is no ongoing threat to the public.

Officers responded at approximately 6:50 p.m. to the 1000 block of London Boulevard after receiving reports of a shooting, according to the Portsmouth Police Department.

When officers arrived, they found two adult men and two adult women suffering from gunshot wounds. All four victims were transported to local hospitals for treatment.

Authorities have not released the victims' identities or provided information about their conditions. Police also have not disclosed what led to the shooting or whether the victims and suspect knew one another.

The Portsmouth Police Department confirmed that a suspect had been taken into custody but did not immediately identify the person. Investigators said there is no threat to the broader public.
