An online fundraiser for the lone holdout juror in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial has surpassed $100,000 following the Massachusetts case ending in a mistrial. Republican Governor Ron DeSantis offered the juror “asylum” in Florida if he faced harassment over his actions.

The jury deadlocked 11-1 following more than six days of deliberations, blocking a unanimous finding that Clancy was not criminally responsible for the deaths of her three children. The holdout juror allegedly stated he had reasonable doubt of Clancy's guilt but would not vote to acquit, prompting the judge to declare a mistrial.

The fundraiser was established to assist the unidentified juror with security costs, legal expenses, and lost income after intense public scrutiny of the case. It exceeded its original $100,000 goal Monday and continues climbing past $110,000.

DeSantis weighed in after reports emerged about the juror’s personal history, including a reported 2021 domestic violence charge that was later dismissed and an existing restraining order. The governor criticized the reports of the juror, arguing that his identity should remain protected and that the media coverage was "trying to smear" the holdout juror over his refusal to acquit Clancy. Desantis said if harassment occurred that the juror would "be welcomed and appreciated" in Florida.

A retrial of the case remains possible. Prosecutors are also able to offer Clancy a plea deal to avoid another trial. Neither option has been announced as of Monday. The future direction of the case against Clancy is still developing.
